It started with his story.
Yoshiyuki IIMURA (飯村祥之) was a faculty member at a university in Japan.
He was subjected to events that forced the disclosure of his sexual orientation and led to a minor legal penalty under circumstances beyond his control.
This is not only his story. It highlights urgent needs to protect LGBTQ+ individuals, clarify student–faculty boundaries, and ensure safe and fair working environments in higher education.
We stand with him as he seeks accountability and fairness — and we call for safe, respectful, and equitable academic environments in universities everywhere.
See the progress.
